Ive got a mantis shrimp, but wasnt a hitch hiker on a piece of L.R, i bought it from the lfs yesterday. It was there in a tank for a few weeks/months, and i liked it then, was looking at sites about them yesterday, then had to have one, its the peacock kind, with the clubs.
Oh and its in the sump! :D :p not that crazy!!
I also FINALLY got a couple of young clowns from the same place, wasnt sure at first as they looked very dull and unappealing, but spoke to a very freindly bloke in there about 2 gorgeous ones in an aqua medic show tank, but he said they werent for sale, i was on about the others for sale and he assured me it was cause theyre young, the lights werent very good was why they were dull, and that the 2 nice ones were from the same stock!. Which seems funny cause i asked a week before about the 2 in the aqua medic tank and different bloke at the time ( a horrible nasty arrogant in your face man - said by my gf, who see's the best in everyone!) said that they were, but they were £200 for the pair!!! :grr: , reckoned they were wild caught ect, ect..., but this nice bloke said that a few other clowns were, but they were only £40 each at the most!
ARRRGGGHHH :grr: :grr: :grr: T**T!!

Great news about the Mantis! Fascinating creatures and highly intelligent.
Watch your sump glass though, if it gets startled near this glass he might hit out in defence and then you are in for a big mess  :-(
I think someone is tellin porkies at the fish shop. I know where wild caught pairs have been for sale at around £35. Tank bred are better though for so many reasons IMO.
The colour differences in the fish also makes me beleive that these fish are not of the same stock (they may have been in on the same delivery but the same stock? I doubt it :*) ).
My 2 clowns have a deep rich orange colour but these were purchased like this and they have remained so ever since. My friends got a pair of clowns from the same batch on the very same day (These are TMC tank bred) and the colours were also just as rich. However, their began to fade as they grew but mine didnt. I looked into the diet they were giving the Clowns and the only difference was that I fed Cyclopeze and they did not. They immediatley switched to feeding with this too and over the course of hte last 3 months the colours are beginning to return.

If you want the clowns to colou rup then I urge you to purchase Cyclpoze and feed daily (its expensive but a jar will last about a year!... £11.00 per jar approx)
