hi

what do other people here use as their substrates? i have been looking at JBL aqua basis + and tropica plant substrate. i am planning on capping the substrate with argos play sand. are any of these substrates any good? what thoughts does any1 have on these or is there any other substrates anyone would recommend.
also how much substrate would be needed for a fluval roma 240. the dimensions are 120cm long, 40 cm wide and 55 cm high.

many thanks

yeah there okay...but i would just stick with good old cheap 100% clay cat litter capped with sand.

i used 28litres of substrate to get a 2" depth at front, to 6" depth at back. same dimensions.

i have used aquabasis+ in my 60l & 216l

Does the clay cat litter work well? Are there any disadvantages to using it over somthing like eco-complete?

its more or less the same as the tropica substrate, but its cheaper.

Where would I get suitable clay?

Would any of these do? Does it matter that they are clumping?

I can't believe I'm having a conversation about cat litter!
