I'm looking for good fish stores nearby. The one in town is horrible

I know aquarium co-op, denny's pet world and bridges pets are pretty good, but I'd like more variety too.
Any other washingtonians that could reccomend somethin?

Washington, Co Durham? Where George’s family originated? I’ve not been there for about six years so can’t help sorry ;)
I remember President Jimmy Carter opening my old local shopping centre and bar as his first act on U.K. soil during his bicentennial visit back in 76. We got a day off school to watch. Could barely see him as he was surrounded by giants in suits and sunglasses, we were more interested in trying to see their guns.
Carter then sped off in his convoy to visit Washington Old Hall a couple of miles away which was George Washingtons old family stately home. I think he was from a branch of the family unlucky enough to inherit nothing but a horse, saddle and lunch wrapped in a map.
Saw Clinton in Notting Hill by accident a few years after he’d left office. He’s a big bloke. He seemed to have inherited the sons of Carters giants in suits and sunglasses......but I digress.

Well, there is The Pet Works but I am not the biggest fan. They have locations in Olympia and Longview. I have gone in several times and seen dead fish. I do know that they will qt their tanks if something is wrong. Each tank runs off of it's own sponge filter.

There is Kaija's in Chehalis. I really like them, even if it is a bit far for me. They are willing to special order fish for you and will even treat them for 3 days after delivery. The staff seemed knowledgeable and very helpful. I think I spent an hour talking fish with them. I did not see any dead or sick fish. My most recent purchase of Cardinal Tetra and my female BN Pleco are from here. They tend to be about 30% more expensive but have healthier stock.

I would avoid Pioneer West in Chehalis like the plague. I saw several tanks infected with Ich and the staff didn't know too much about the stock. I saw several very unhealthy fish. I left as soon as was polite.

All of these being said, the fish departments are pretty small in all of these stores since they are full pet stores and not just aquarium stores. I usually take a trip to Oregon when fish shopping, since I am only an hour away from Portland. Out there is The Wet Spot and World of Wet Pets. Wet Spot is huge and wonderful, but has the worst parking ever. The World of Wet Pets has a smaller selection, but is easier to access. I like both places.

Thank you! I would love to go down to wetspot as well as I'm only an hour as well, but with the social distancing stiff my family would prefer if I stayed closer :)

In my immediate area, I am pretty limited. So my choices are buy from risky places, or drive an hour either way(north or south) to purchase. I want to visit Aquarium Co-Op eventually but the drive time is even further than Oregon for me.

If you get the chance I would recommend it. It's about 45 minutes from me. Really great store, but a bit of a drive
