Good Fish Or Invertebrates For The Biube

Hi everyone. I was going to purchase a group of 3 otos catfish for my 35l biube. Everyone is saying this is way to small. So here I am at step one. What would be good fish for the biube? I want something that looks nice and is definitely compatible with my tank. I currently have 3 male fancy guppy's that are doing great. I am planning to purchase this weekend as my LFS is getting in a fresh delivery of fish. I was going to go with neon tetras but have read they prefer a higher PH than guppy's. I have been told that honey gourami's might be good. I am also planning to buy some green cambomba and some moss balls and a Java fern. Maybe some platys... Advice much appreciated as I really want to have a colourful, well balanced tank. Thanks.

Ok just wondering, what is your actual pH, seeing as your from the same area as me im guessing its rather high. This can become really annoying unless you want a marine aquarium (my pH is exactly 8.2 all the time) however Platy are extremely hardy and wont care that much about your water quality*, there are many types of platy, for instance mine are a hybrid Swordtail Platy, this means they have the long tail from the swordtails and characteristics from the platy too. They come in many colours, will get on with your Guppies and are fine in the Biube. Its all down to whether you like the fish in general, theres not much point in buying something you'll want to return the following day. I was infact not intending to have platy as my first fish but when i got in the shop I realised that they were actually a brilliant idea, I already knew a considerable amount about them but the idea didnt really appeal to me, I dont know if you like them or not but if not dont buy them (bit obvious really).


*when i say that, i say it in moderation, it wouldnt be good to just chuck them in raw tap water and hope they live!!!

I think I will see what they have in the local fish shop. I am thinking along the lines of 3 platys or 3 honey gourami's. Do they prefer slow moving water?

honey gouramis prefer slow moving water, especially no surface agitation. 35 litres is also enough for some small shoaling species, such as boraras, ember tetras. LIz is keeping them and she claims that her water in Miami is so hard it is like liquid rock.

I am going to go back with the Otos and am going to give it a try. Other people have had them in the biube and they have been successful. Thanks for the info anyway.
