Hi, I've got the above in a 20L tank, on sand with some plastic plants a the moment. Not sure about putting in naturals given size of the tank.

Can anyone recommend some good cleansing tank buddies for the little fella, as it might eventually get boring looking at Sponge Bob.

Cheers !

Matt

Snails and some shrimp will be the maximum in 20 liter.

Thanks TT - would this the RCS I see so much off on these boards ?

Do I need to find them some food, or will they feast on poop and uneaten flakes ?

They'll eat all food they find. Some people reccomend giving them algae wafers to supplement feeding.

Other shrimp include glass/ ghost shrimp, red and white shrimp I can remember the name of.

Matt,

Firstly I would recommend you change the plastic plants for silk or real plants, as plastic are not so forgiving on a Bettas fins.

I recently acquired some Amano Shrimp to go in the tanks with my Betta boys, and they are fantastic workers.  Just make sure there are no gaps in your tank lid as I had an escapee!  They are also great jumpers so do not be fooled that once you have them in a net they will stay there!

Have you got any pics of your Betta and his tank?  We all love pics on here ;)

I got told on here Shrimp would be a bad idea with a Betta as they'd try to eat them and/or the shrimp would spend most of their time hiding :<

Shifted this into the betta section, might get more attention in there and some exposure to the group that hang around in there.

For my 2p, I'd leave a betta on it's own in a 20l. Shrimp can be a risk, but it depends a lot on the betta.

I would go with snails since most bettas (not all) will try to eat the shrimp especially in such a small tank no matter how well decorated with hiding spots.  The smaller dwarf shrimp that some in many colors like cherry shrimp or crystal shrimp are more likely to end up eaten.  Bigger shrimp like Amano(Japanese Algae eating shrimp) or ghost shrimp might work out better since they can easily get almost 2 in or so in size.

I've had x2 amano shrimp in my 35L betta tank for a while now. No issues.
The shrimp are interesting little creatures to watch as well.

I just picked out the 2 largest from the shop to give them the best chance.

Thanks to all - and noted for future questions, thanks for the move.

In a 20L - better to go with a solo amano ? Or do they work better in pairs with a little food of their own ?

There - we go, only a camera phone shot sorry, but it might do for now.

Have ordered silk plants to replace the rather leary orange placcy one !

I've got x2 in my 35L betta tank. They hang out together quite a bit on the bogwood.
I'd suggest going & looking at them somewhere, my 2 are really big & would prob look out of place in a 20L.
I've got a 15L RCS tank & my amanos would look awful in there.
