I started my fishless cycle about 6 days ago.
I had to empty my tank after putting in some stupid filter starting stuff evolution aqua, it contains bacteria not of the true stuff we need to get the cycle going, I didn't clean out my filter with tap water only tank water and started the cycle again with advice from Tizer that my filter will still contain the good stuff that would have developed before I did the silly thing above, here are my readings.
I completely filled my tank again with treated water using seachem prime.
18/03/2012 8.00pm
Added 3 ml ammonia (kleen off)

19/03/2012 5.30pm
Ammonia 2.4ppm
Nitrite 0.1ppm

20/03/2012
Ammonia 0.6ppm
Nitrite 0.3ppm

I added 2ml ammonia
reading for ammonia 1hour later 2.9 - 4.9 (nutrafin ammonia test kit)

I will be getting the api mater kit soon.

Does all look good ?

Those bacteria products don't do any harm. Most won't do much, if any, good but they don't do any harm.

I actually started a clean cycle and got bored, hoping it would help I added some "NT Labs Start-OK". Did nothing but fool me into thinking it was good.

Cheers, I am a bit worried though after reading up on the bacteria they use, it can compete for the ammonia and their bacteria reproduces really fast, every 20 mins where as the good stuff every 24 hours, if you check out my other posts about trying this stuff..........I was talked in to using it by a guy called Mark from Maiden head aquatics Pol hill Cambridge, when (if) I do go back I'm going to tell him.

I have never seen a bacteria additive, except Biospira, that did any good but they also don't seem to do any harm. Relax a bit pdludbrooke, it will be fine.
