Goldfish Should Never Be Kept In Bowls!

MAny people think you can keep goldies on bowls. well it is actually wrong in more ways than one!
 
Reasons Why
 
1.Goldfish generally grow quite BIG!!!!
as they ca reach ! foot or more in length
 
2. Bowls are Ammonia Magnets
Ammonia is more concentrated due to the shape of the bowl
 
3. Goldfish produce A LOT OF WASTE
 Goldfish make a lot of waste in a day! You need more than 2 water changes a day to keep them happy!
 
4. Most bowls are UNFILTERED and UNCYCLED
since bowls are too small to install filters they are ussually unfiltered and since they are Unfiltered that means it is UNCYCLED. you know what that means!!! yes DEATH to the FisH!

I still see fun fairs giving away goldfish kept in bags all day and night long! Win a prize! But most people take them home and realise they have a salad bowl, but no fish tank? Usualy small Comets.

Most of those who give good advice are quickly fired. I once knew a bloke who worked at petstock ( like an Aussie petsmart ) and he was an avid fish keeper. He frequently turned customers away to google up cycling. When his boss found out he was sacked .

yea i do, but if anything management promote better fish keeping, the number of people we refuse to sell is crazy sometimes, just coming in saying yea we got a fish bowl, ok do you have and filtration etc. nope nope and nope. ok sorry i cant sell you anything. customers reaction tends to be on the line of what but not even for like goldfish i remember getting some at fairs...face palm

I have to say that the fish guys at my local Pets At Home give great advice! I know PAH gets a bit of a slating at times along with the rest but these guys are really good imo.
