hi all...

i`m at the moment cycling my 100 gal tank, it has been up and running for just over a week and was told that golden barbs are good hardy cycing fish so added 8 two days ago....

up to now i have lost 1 and it looks like i could be on my way to losing all of them, they seem to have "white froth/fungus" around there mouths and gape open all the time.

i`m not niave enough to think they are all going to survive the cycling process but i`m not to sure these are the symtoms of that process?

i`ve treated my tank wth a good dose of eSHa 2000 and and have my fingers crossed, does anyone have any ideas or suggestions on what this could be?

cheers

thanx for the prompt reply.....

now up to 4 casualties! i looked at the pic of the betta in the link and this "fungus" is soley round there mouths as opposed to round the body.

my nitrites are at 0.25 as is the ammonia and the water temp is 78f and has been at that for the duration.

the only thing that did concern me was the ph,the guy in the lfs told me the fish were in 7.4 and even though i told him my water was 7.8 he said they would be fine.... i have researched this and have seen something called "ph shock" ......hmmmmmm?

cheers

even though its a slight rise, i doubt its anything to worry over. Ph crash would be a lot more than that.
As for the pics in the link, scroll down to near the bottom as theres a pic of a fish with columnaris around the mouth area.
