Yeah I have two in my tank and they do love to chew on my plants.

So I'm keen to rehome them. I have a friend with a cold water biorb 60 litres. Could I transplant one of these lawn mowers over or is it being a cold water tank an issue?

not a hundred percent but i think they prefer cold conditions

From what I've read, they like a temp from 18C and up.
But I'm not sure what a typical cold water tank temp would be in a home.

most sane people set the thermostat to around 18 during the winter months so one would imagine room temp is fine. I've seen them kept with goldfish in my LFS so my guess is that's what they prefer. You can post them to me if you like, my lonely apple snail needs some mates. :D
