 I'm sorry shawn123. I just read your post. There was a hitch in signing in for a day. Some of us are still catching up. I'm really sorry about your fish. -_-

What kind of gourami are a gold and a red tail? That's one thing that slowed my reading your post, I didn't recognize the name.

it was a gold gourmis...:(, my rtbs i have had the longest now...hes seems pretty heathly, not sure what happend to my gouramis though

I'm very ignorant about most fish, except the ones I have :) . I just got my first gourami. A little Honey. And that is a pun

I'm also not familiar with fish diseases much, except ich which I've done battle with. It was a win/lose. I also lost an oto to we think constipation. Most of my other losses were probably due to stress, which the constipation and ich could probably be put down to also.

I looked up the gold gourami. It's a very pretty fish. So you have two golds left? I got a Gold or Red Honey, I'm not sure which yet.

When you have a sick fish, you can post in the emergency forum and get a quicker reply and maybe an idea about what happend and what to do. I suppose it is still ok for you to post there with a concern for any other fish. Watch the join dates for at least a clue to experience. As with anything there are a few that confuse fact and opinion. :/

yes i had one with a big lump and she died a couple of weeks ago i know this might sound harsh but my mum cut her open and it was a tumor was how old was your gold 1?

It's not harsh to me evofish. Dead is dead. How did your mum know what a tumor is?

I had a Betta once and the tumor (at least I thought thats what it was) got so big it threw off the way it swam. I didnt want to kill it but i didnt want it to suffer. It eventually died but i didnt cut it open because I wouldn't know what to look for.

The site "The Age of Aquariums" notes that the Honey is susceptible to dropsy which is characterized by a bloated abdomen and protrusion. I wondered also about constipation as the site mentions they have difficulty sometimes without veggies.
