Gold Fish Filter

Hi I have a gold fish tank is it possible to use the filter from that to help my Tropical tank gain its bacteria ??? I was going to buy a new set up for the gold fish, as for my tropical tank the ammonia is at 0 and there are small amounts of Nitrite there, I just want to stop doing so many water changes at the moment, and if the filter from the gold fish will help boost the system then I might as well throw that in the tank.

The bacteria that we need for our tropical tanks are the very same ones that you will have in your goldfish filter. That filter should work fine to give a new filter a starter colony of bacteria.
