Going To Change To Black Gravel.....

After seeing some really nice tank setups on here, I've decided to go for the black gravel look in my Vision 180 Does anybody know roughly how many KGs of gravel I will need to give it a good 1-2inch covering? I'm going to buy a bag of gravel each week untill I'm able to do the change over (moving house in a couple of months so will be easier to do it then!)

To quickly estimate the amount of gravel required for an aquarium, simply multiple the aquarium's length (in inches) by it's width (in inches), then divide by ten (whacking off the last digit will suffice). The resulting number is the number of pounds of gravel that will cover the aquarium bottom to an average depth of two inches.

So if its 48" x 24" then that = 1152.

Divide that by 10 = 115.2 lb or 52kg.

Id personally round that up to 60kg to get a good covering.

i had 70kg ish of roman gravel in black and i feel like i need some more.thats on a 5ft rio tank

it deoend on how deep you like the gravel to be i suppose aswell

Using the PFK magazine substrate calculator...
For tank dimensions 92cm x 41cm and a depth of 2" you need around 35kg of pea sized gravel
And just over 35kg for Coloured Dolomite Gravel
