Well, check out the used places first, that's your best bet. Then, ask around, you'd be surprised how many people have an old tnak just lying around in their basement they don't want anymore but just haven't gotten around to getting rid of it. I pegged a 47 gallon that way. After all that, you can get your basic ten gallon for ten bucks, a Whisper 10 for around nine dollars, gravel for a couple of bucks, some fake plants for a few dollars more, and theres a small halogen clamp light for around 14 bucks, if you can't find a cheap hood around in your original searches.

Truth be it, Scots are one of the most generous when it comes to charities etc, we are just grippit when giving something for free to Joe Bloggs. If I can make 50p off it, it's 50p in my pocket.
