I'm looking at upgrading the size of my tank but have trouble saving for the size I want.

I have a 24x12x15 at the moment but want to upgrade to either a 36x12x15 (£55) or 48x12x15 (£75)

I know its not much a difference but having that extra money is hard not to spend

Willpower to save money is very low (long-term carers allowance isn't much) and the wife wants bits buying for the house so it drains it slowly....

Might have to set a secret account up to hide money from the missus :hyper:

So do I go for the 36" (106L) or 48" (142L)

Current Stocking is

2 Angelfish
1 leopard sailfin plec
1 Red tail shark (3")
1 dwarf chain loach (will add more after upgrade)
16 Neon Tetra

Not an expert by any means on stocking put I'm pretty sure angels are better with a tank of 20 inches tall or more... Also you may have problems with the shark as it gets bigger as they tend to be terratorial... As there are many different plecs I'm not 100% on what size the one you have will get to but im sure I recall reading somewhere that they get very large, around 2 feet (24 inches)... Like I said though I'm not too sure on that.

Just had a quick check online to make sure and your plec will grow to 50cm (20 inches) and needs around 100 gallon tank.

Yeah you may need a bit taller tank for those angels.

O grats saving money! Be ready for some sleeping on the couch though for a bit... at least you will have a nice tank to look at!

I can either go for just the tank to build in to the wall in place of the 2ft no mods at all...

Or try and get a job in the LFS and try and get a 4ft tank+Stand at a discount or work there to pay it off...

aquarist classifieds!!!!!!!!!!

I've had a look and they are miles from my house, the cost of fuel would outlay the price of the tank, just going to have to bite the bullet and save save save!

Yes angels do need 20"+ high tanks so that they can grow tall like they should :good: I'd go for the biggest you can so if you can get a 48" that's 20" high go for it, but if not try a 36" that's 20" high and if all else fails just do the 4 foot one! :good:

Oh yeah and I hear angels eat neons when they're fully grown.....,

Have you checked for adds by county?

If it is going to take you as long to save as you say it is then you will get something eventually.
