Glofish®

I do not believe that they "glow in the dark". They will however, glow in natural sunlight and UV light (black light). Did you view the black light video on the site that you linked to? Very cool. They are only available for sale in the US according to the site...not sure where you are from. If you are in the US, their site has a store locator.

Yeah, I don't know if I'd ever buy a fish with a trademarked name either.

ahh didnt realise they were geneticly modified.. ithough it was one of natures cool tricks..

and im the UK so i wount be gettin them anyway...

Here in the US, genetically modified is synonymous with better.

Yeah ban the fish!!

How dare the company performing research into indicator fish which tell us if the water has bad quality release a mid point product onto the market to ensure further funds for the ultimate goal!

Only if you're growing feed corn. In most states, genetically modified food is outright illegal, and thanks to the idiot lobby, anything genetically engineered is classified a carcinogen by default. And genetically modified fish are illegal in California. They're illegal in a few other states, but after the FDA finished their testing on Glofish, the other states allowed a variance for them. Graples got pulled from the market in Michigan because people thought they were genetically engineered and took it to the state congress, it was a good year before the company managed to convince them otherwise, and now they still sell like crap because people still don't realize they're just apples soaked in grape juice.

Andy, this is one of the first times i have agreed with you. I dont see a problem with them being sold. They werent intendid to be sold on the market( well, for beauty atleast), but they are so attractive, the company would be stupid not too! They were originally modified to detect bad water quality. The coloring dosent harm the fish, so i dont see anytihng wrong. Plus, it adds a little more money to our STALE economy.

EDIT: Spelling =]
