i think im being hit with a disease running around my 300l tank all levels are ok did i 1/4 water change anyway because i have 2 dead (1 guppy (pregant), 1 platy (6months old)), 2 6moth old platys are in isolation witch i had to make up it a plastic tub in my tank like a breeding tank without holes symptons are rapid gill movment, not eatting, slow movement, and looks like some gasping and i dont know what to do? any guesses?
all the other fish look ok all eatting

Tank size: 300L
pH:7.8
ammonia:0
nitrite:0
nitrate:0
kH:
gH:
tank temp:24

Volume and Frequency of water changes:10L 3 times a week

Chemical Additives or Media in your tank:

Tank inhabitants:platys, guppies, cory cat

Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration):4 guppies 2 weeks ago (1 dead, 1 aborted her pregance) a plant from one tank to other (after problem started)

Exposure to chemicals: plant food

Can you give more specific readings of water parameters and what test kit you are using.

my loacl pet shop (they are trustworthy) did the tests for me showed me all the results as he did them, they tested the water in test tubes adding drops in, 2 platys died over night and 1 more looks like his going down now too

Ok, since there is no nitrate, and also your fish gasping which could be a sign of ammonia poisoning, I suspect your tank is not cycled.

This would explain the losses as an uncycled tank cannot process ammonia waste which your fish produces.
Ammonia is toxic to fish, basically your fish are dying from poisoning.

Have a read of this, http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/421488-cycling-your-new-fresh-water-tank-read-this-first/

I'd suggest it may be best to take the fish back to the store, if indeed your tank is not cycled and to start a Fishless cycle, much easier and less stressful to you and the fish if do things this way.

If you try to do a fish in cycle, lots of water changes will needed and on a 300 litre tank, that's a lot of water and hard work.
10 litres water changes 3 times a week for a 300 litre tank is not enough, more like at least 25% (75 litres) would be needed, possibly more might be likely.

went to my local aquraem today
ph 8
ammonia 0
nitrate trace (<0.1)
nitrite trace (<0.1)
he thinks its not enough good bacteira in the water apart nomore fishies with symptoms today
so i have added some good bacteria to the water, and planing to wait 2 days test again it there anything else i should do?
