New tank?, how longs it been setup?, what method if any did you do to cycle? (establish a bacteria colony)

Stats ie... ammonia, nitrite and nitrate?

Hmmm I don't have the testing kit I used tap water with condittioner hmm I only added 3 small fishes angle , black ghost and gourami also just wondering what are the black rocks in a bag in my filter my fish are usually summing on the bottom level and seem that it just goes to the surface to get it's food hmm I put the fish in the same day as the fishtank been setup

sorry to say but you have been put into a bad position, probably your fish stores fault.
some homework is necessary about now
read about fish-in cycle here
and fishless here
also reading this will also help, it is the beginner forum here. (it helped me a lot!!!)
a testing kit is necessary and very much recommended, but you can still do a cycle without it.
first thing you will need to do is do a large water change, at least 50%
a 50% change will probably be needed every day, make sure to add de-chlorinator when adding water back in
you will notice that your fish will be more lively by doing daily water changes,
these will have to be done for at least 1 month.

if you have any more questions just ask.

the black rocks in your filter bag are carbon, this takes out chemicals from the water, it is not usually needed unless you have added chemicals for sick fish.

oh and could you add periods in your future post...or at least line breaks, its hard to decipher. lol :)

Thx for your help I guessing my fish is bad for fish cycle

i have two plants lol with a underground filter i heard it was bad

hmm I did a bit of hw before hand but I guess I didn't do engouth

Btw is it normal for my gosh fish to swim on one spot and lol I got the fish and most of the things In a market lol xD

They will be doing it because of the new set up.

You are going to need a lot of water changes and when you can a better filter (add this to the tank and leave the under gravel one in there too.)

You need a water test kit - a liquid one like the API Master Test Kit (about £18 on ebay here in the UK)

Have a read of the article on 'Fish-In Cycle' and be aware that you are in for some hard work for the next few weeks, but once you get things settled you have taken the first steps into a very addictive and rewarding hobby.

thanks everyone for the help hmm i've change about 33% of the water today and i fed it some earth worms i acctually see the black ghost eating it lols xD hmm can tooo much live plants kill my fishes im also thinking of changing gravel will it be bad for my fish? should i wait for about 2 more weeks?

concentrate on doing at least 2x50% water changes a day and getting a test kit before anything else.

a test kit is a bit expensive for me right now hmm when making the water do i need to make it warm?(tankwater temp) and do i need to put it in slowly?

yes to both. if you can't get a test kit then using guess work do twice daily 50% water changes for 2 weeks then get it tested at a local fish store - get them to write down the exact test results. (get them to test water tank from the tank just before a water change.) If there is any trace of ammonia or NitrIte then do the waterchanges again for 2 weeks and test again.

Post the test results here and we can help you :)

Sorry to be the one to mention this, cant see anywhere where it has been before, but unfortunately you are going to need to re-home the ghost straight away, they require a minimum of a 5ft 100gallon tank, as they can reach 14+" and keeping one in a 17g tank is cruel, although you probably didnt know that, the place you bought it from would have.

In the meantime, keep up with as many w/c as it takes to stabilise the tank.

i only knew after i got it but i read somewhere that if u keep it in a small tank its growth will stunt

Yeah sure it wont reach its full potential size, it also wont be able to move comfortably, its like sticking a great dane puppy in a cardboard box and expecting it to live its life in there, it will still grow, but be horribly deformed.

Whilst I understand you may already be attached to it, ultimately its the care, health and welfare of the fish that is important and the only reason Im telling you the size tank it requires.

ill try to get the test kits next week xD and after the water has stable how often should i test it
hmm im also planning to get a bigger tank in about 6 months hmmm so i need a tank about 10 times bigger then my one now
hmm i also ask a person at the shop how big will it get up to she used her hand to show me and im estimating that it is about 17 cm hmm =( i like the ghost fish the most

hmm also this thread http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=292214 this guy is planning to put a black ghost knife fish in a 180 litre tank? or that a black ghost and a black ghost knife fish is different?

=( i found the site i read it from http://www.suite101.com/discussion.cfm/tro...a/80016/1031563 i guess that guy didn't talk about the bad effects
