I’ve had a 30Litre (roughly 9-10 gallon) guppy tank for several years. However, I recently added a new guppy who unbeknownst to me had tapeworm... the tapeworms managed to wipe out the tank before I figured out what was wrong. (My power head died at the same time, so the under gravel filter stopped working.)
I completely renovated the tank (it now has a sponge filter, as I’m still waiting for a new power head to be ordered in) but I made the mistake of buying the fish from the same place, and they also had tapeworm. (Which I have treated with Aqua Masters Fluke/Tape wormer, hopefully successfully.)
Then one of the new fish showed signs of a fungal infection. I went to buy the fungal treatment, (Pimaflex anti fungal stuff) but by the time I got home she was dead. On the fish shops advice (not the shop that kept selling me tapeworm infested fish, lol) I treated the tank anyway.

I also changed the brand of mineral salts I use cos I couldn't find my old brand when I resetup the tank. STUPIDLY I trusted the instructions, and didn't bother gH testing the water.. My mum's been in hospital, so every thing's been a bit hectic, so I've only been checking the amonia, nitrite, and nitrate to save time... BAD idea. The dosage which was meant to take the tank to 12ppm took it to over 30ppm. I'm assuming the tank has been like this since the tank was set up.

Edit: The 'non pregnant' guppy popped out a single fry... then died. So how can I lower the gH with fry in the tank?

How fast can I safely bring the gH down?
And what symptoms do I need to look out for, and what can I do if they develop?

Tank size: 30L (about 10 Gallon)
pH: 7.2
ammonia: 0
nitrite: 0
nitrate: 10
kH: 4
gH: over 30.
tank temp: 25

Fish Symptoms:
Slightly more docile than usual, spending a lot of time under/on top of the filter, in the plants, or behind the heater. One is pregnant, but not pregnant enough to be showing “nesting” behaviour.

Volume and Frequency of water changes:
5Ls (nearly 2 gallons) twice a week.

Chemical Additives or Media in your tank:
AquaMasters worming stuff, and Pimaflex anti fungal stuff.

Tank inhabitants:
Was three female guppies, now it’s two.

Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration):
The tanks only 4 weeks old, after a complete refurbish after the tape worm infection wiped out the old tank. The new fish came with tape worm too... Needless to say I’m ditching my fish shop.
I have no idea what breed it is, but it has one live plant and two fake ones.

Exposure to chemicals:
None other than the medications.

Thank you!!
