Ive had tropical fish previously and purchased a new tank yesterday to get a tropical fish tank running again but im planning on purchasing a large marine tank in April as marine fish are so beautiful and its something ive been eager to do for sometime. Any good books you can advise me to read or any tips. I want to be well informed on the subject before i take it on. What equipment do you have/will i need and what is the basic set up information to get a tank running. Obviously im going to read up on it as well but as you have aquariums with these fish i thought id ask for your tips through experience as well. Thanks :* xx

the pinned topics in the marine chit chat section are the best place to start IMO. from those you can start to decide what sort of set up you want and then we can help and give you advise on the specifics from your set up. :good:

Great start, best thing you can do is read up and research everything before buying anything, aswell as asking questions on here. This way you'll get the correct and best equipment and avoid costly mistakes.

There some really helpful threads on here, which will help you greatly.

I've kept freshwater fish for a few years, but moving to marine was excellent, well worth the effort researching everything.

Good luck, you won't regret it!

A great book to get is "The Concientious Marine Aquarist by Bob Fenner"

as everyone else has said read all the threads here youll learn oodles! :good:

come back to us when you have more questions, which you will lol, and we will help where we can!

have fun! :good:

Amen to that.

:hi: to the salty side of life :D. We'll be happy to answer your questions, so feel free to ask. I agree with Miss Wiggle and others that starting in the stickies in the chit-chat section is a great idea, tons of info there. You asked a few equipment questions and thats a bit tricky with marine life. I find it better to tailor the hardware around the livestock as livestock have very varied requirements. Make sure you spend some time poking through member's journals and liveaquaria for some livestock ideas :)
