I so want your Diamonds lol Lovely pictures and congrats on getting your fish. Worth all the stress they cause us in the end.

Looks great fishy! I like the kuhlis :)

Bettas can restrict your stocking a fair a bit I think (although I don't know much about them). I know bethK keeps hers with apistogramma cacatuoides aka cockatoo cichlid. They'll probably get along with rams, you just want to avoid any nippy fish...i'm sure someone else can clue you up on that though :good:

p.s. diamond tetra will eat most of your hygrophila difformis and possibly some other plants.

They're great little fish... Mine do little shows infront of the females where they shake and shimmer and then will swim around in circles and wizz off..great to watch

I think i've fallen for my Glowlights now though lol May get some x-ray Tetras if the Guppies don't make it through the treatment. Me definitely a Tetra freak now lol

At the moment my cat is still trying to fish through the glass the Diamonds line up and peer at him while he does it

There's some strange looking Diamond Tetras in those photos!

Those loaches may well be young Weather Loaches, which are peaceful but grow pretty big. I think you need to verify this pretty quickly ;)

I can't comment about rams but your betta should be fine with apistos, mine have never come to blows. There was some initial interest from the bettas, like 'what the F is that' after the male squared off (flaring), there hasn't been any issue since.

Apistos are bottom dwellers, bettas top to middle dwellers, so they both have their territories. Just make sure you have some hiding places on the lower level/bottom of the tank. You can used roof slates, terracotta plant pots (small ones and make a small entrance/door way or even a hole on the bottom of the pot,

Apistos don't need a big hole to get through, i would say 1 - 2cms would be sufficient :good:

Think about food too, I have 2 diff kinds of pellets, betta ones that float on the surface and sinking pellets. I find that my apistos will occasionally come middle level for food but prefer to stay lower.

They are shy fish and slowly build up confidence to emerge, so don't worry if you barely see them for a few days.

This is all personal experience though :good:

Strange good or Strange Bad ?

The Loaches according to the guy at the LFS were all variety of Khuli Loach but just not the vertically striped type we often see. They were certainly all in the same tank with Khuli Loach ticket attached.

Yeah I was wondering why say that too. The Diamonds are stunning Fishywishie. Absolutely nothing wrong that I can see. Sure Simon would have said something if there was a problem too as he has Diamonds.

I'm not to worried about the loaches tbh from what I can make out although in the wild they can grow to 25cm in aquariums 15cm is far more likely in a 240l tank if a few did turn out to be weather loaches I don't think it would be a catastrophe esp as I don't plan to overstock.

They are khulis, you can get them with the markings or a pale brown color, like the ones you have.

Thanks for the betta advice btw BethK I love the lil guy he's strutting his stuff atm much to the amusement of my cat :good:

You're welcome :good:

Some times I think fish wind cats up on purpose. My neighbor's cat smuggle himself in the other day, sat watching the tank. I've never seen that community coordinate swimming before, well I have now

The "strange Diamond Tetras" were in reference to the other species photos that were not said fish mentioned as the initial purchase, not at all suggesting your Diamonds have any health issues ;)
