Hi all,
It looks like I'll be getting Sebastian his own Baby Biorb tomorrow. Until now he's been in an unfiltered tank, with 50% water changes every second or third day. Can I put him straight in the Biorb, using water treated with ager? Will he be harmed by the filter cycling with him in there?

Also, does anyone know if you can adjust the flow on the Biorb filters? The only thing I'm really worried about with this tank, is if the flow is too strong.

Thanks for any help!

I never cycled my Biorb, I just did the frequent water changes as normal and BiOrb cycled as I did it.

if theres no filter in his current tank then the conditions in a cycling tank will be no worse than what hes in now, just keep water changing and testing the ammonia and nitrite until they have both peaked and dropped to 0,then a weekly 10-25% change will suffice
The cycle will take longer with the large water changes but it will progress nonetheless

Thanks for your responses Samphire, and joecoral. I'm currently doing 50% water changes every second or third day. Maybe I'll continue that while the tank is cycling???? I have a master test kit, so I'll be able to keep an eye on conditions. The main thing is that I wanted to know if I could put him straight in. We can't get pure ammonia where I live to do a fishless cycle. Sebastian is getting a bit old I think, so I don't want to stress him out. Hopefully things will go o.k. I can't wait to post a pic to show you.

No need to really cycle it if you do water changes frequenly as you do. I have one of my crowntails and an algae eater in my biorb and they happy as ever with no cycling

It turned out that there are no Baby Biorbs in my city that have the silver top and bottom, so they are going to have to order one in. I really wanted to get one today, but I really want the silver, so I'm going to have to hang out for it for a while. I don't know how I'm going to manage to wait. I can't wait to show Sebastian his new home, I think he's going to love it.
