Im getting a new and bigger tank between 75l to 100l. Ive started to look at what fish to put in it and the same one keeps catching my eye, ZEBRA PLEC. I think the plecs are great but i know they out grow their tank and the missus wouldnt let me have a swimming pool in the house. So Zebra plec found grows to a max of 4" is that right.
Would it be stupid of me to get one so early on atfer just keeping tropical fish.
Are they good fish to have in a community tank i would only have them as bottom dwellers, or just to keep them on their own.
I now know about FISHLESS CYCLE after looking it up on the net rather than listening to the spotty kid from pet city.So that wouldnt happen again and im going to go to a local shop to gett advice when i set up my tank.
All replys greatful

Cycle the tank, mature it then for atleast 6 months and a zebra will fit in nicely :) provided you can find one for a reasonable price :p

Cheers what sort of price would i be looking to pay for a zebra. Is there any other plec that doesnt grow to big for like a zebra.

Loads, pitbull, bulldog, bristlenose etc are all smaller plecs :) and zebra's commonly go for around £120 each ;)

Cheers bud great help

* for a young juvenile about 1.5"

If your looking for something just as striking - have a look for L134 Leopard frog plecs - a whole lot cheaper (£30 for an adult) and you'll see them a bit more too (Zebras are pretty shy)

Last time I saw a 2" Zebra plec in a shop it cost £250.....You could buy a new tank for that!!
