I just got into keeping livbearers, althiugh i have had many tanks before: cichlids, saltwater etc. I don't know that much about the actuall pregnancy cycle and I am having a difficult time finding it via the internet. I have had her for a week but she was big and boxy looking when iI bought her. Which according to other questions and answers on here is the way to tell. I have also heard if she feels stressed she will not drop. Any advice??

The gestation period is at about 4 weeks at 74-78F.

Yes, she will abort if stressed. Solutions:
Move her to a breeding tank or trap (the former is better, if possible) one week before she is due. that way she hasn't gone far enough in the pregnancy to drop the fry.

Measures to save fry and reduce stress in main tank. Add fine-leaved plants and java moss where the mother and fry can hide. It is best that one male be kept with 2-3 females in order to divide his attention and reduce stress on any one fish.

:hi: to the forum. From the post count, you are brand new. Introduce yourself in the newbie section.

She is by herself in a two gallon for now with plenty of plants. I guess it is a wait and see game for now

Don't worry. She'll be fine if she's by herself. If you can and don't have them, get plants that have fine leaves so the mother can't swim after her fry.

Java moss would also work for that last part, BTW.
