funnily enough there not my tanks there my boyfriends but he dont research anything thats left to me but i think the 2ft tank will have to do for now as my mollies look seriously stressed

That sounds like a better idea. I wouldn't 'waste' a 4ft tank on some sharks though as they're not something i am into. Obviously everyone is different and thats just my opinion. I still don't think that a 2ft tank is suitable for both Kribs and Rams. But if you carry on like this then you will end up with 10 tanks before you know it. lol.

This does sound better. My humble suggestion would be to have the mollies in the 2 ft, and the rams in the 3 ft. with the sharks until you get them in the 4 ft.

Hey, I started out with one 55g, and now I've added a 20g, 15g, 10g and 5g. Plus I have a 10g just sitting around doing nothing, begging me to start it up. Sigh.

Not a pop at you OP, but you need to do your research before you buy your fish - not after. It's a lot easier avoiding a mistake before hand than correcting it afterwards. You have to bear in mind that an awful lot of fellow fish keepers spend their time on here correcting bad advice given by fish shops, and occasionally our tempers get a little frayed.

Respected or not, fish shops consistently give bad advice and not doing your own research prior to buying happens for one of two reasons: ignorance of this fact, or laziness. Personally I have the Seriously Fish Knowledge Base bookmarked on my phone, so if I feel the urge to make an impulse buy I can check it out whilst I'm there. Keep in mind that this isn't a pop at you, I'm just trying to underline my point about researching.

Right, Bala Silver sharks. They're active, skittish and they grow to be huge. Despite being commonly available they have quite specific needs. Personally I'd steer clear now rather than have to worry about rehoming later.

Kribs and Ram's in a 2ft. I wouldn't put more than one pair of dwarf cichlids in a 2ft tank, and GBR's are fairly pushy as dwarf cichlids go. I'd go for one or the other, but wouldn't mix both. I do disagree with the poster above about keeping them in low pH - whilst ideally they should be kept in soft acidic water they will tolerate hard water - the GBR in my avatar was in pH of 8.2-8.4. My experience has been that they will tolerate hard water but they will become stressed if you don't keep them in very good quality water. I'd aim for a minimum of 30% weekly, and if you want their colours to really come about 25-30% every few 3-4 days.

And a link hopefully you'll find useful:
