Geophagus Surinamensis

I've been trying to find information about Geophagus Surinamensis, but cannot find much on the internet. Can someone please guide me to the right resource? I'm more interested in replicating their natural habitat. And does anyone has personal experience with them?

Ive also only just purchased this fish and struggling to find info on them aswell, Just wondered what tankmates could go with them?

Sand on the bottom is probably what they prefer. They like to suck it up and spit it out as they try to find food.

Suriname Geo's are native to the Amazon River and Amazon Basin. They can grow to about 10" long, and can get fairly aggressive. As vancouver said, they like to have a sand substrate, so they can dig along looking for food. If you need help, here's some links to fact sheets:
