Genetics Q - Coppers

Thanks :good:

If you bred a copper with an opaque you could end up with some platinums but it does depend alot on the history of the fish used. Half the fun of breeding is seeing what surprises you get.

We spawned our purple butterfly halfmoon with a cambodian female and the 3 girls we kept are purple, cambodian and red, so all were completely different. Always bear in mind also when breeding, that red is a dominant colour.

It seems though the whatever colour you put with a copper the resulting fry should have an increased metalic colour.

one day I'll have a crack at that then! see what happens. but not yet, my flat can barely house my two 8 gallon tanks it's so tiny, definitely no room for a breeding set up!

Saw a beautiful copper pair on Ebay...already sold but the coloring closely resembled your boy. Here's a pic:

he looks closer to the true bronze copper I once had he was from Joby and named Korben Dallas hehe:

if you got that one off ebay, I bet he'd be more bronze than silver.

he is indeed a combination of red and platinum, this is a common mixture to produce solid gold in the F3+
