Hello all
I have seen from time to time gemstones and gemrocks adorning tanks and it looks yummy (in my opinion) also seen the gemstone gravel you can get, can the polished/glazed pebbles that you can collect go in safely as well?
Thanks allxxx

the ones in the little bags?
i have seen them but in my opinion they are not worth the money it cost for them. i love my fish, i however refuse to live in a box to make them happy.

Quartz ( most varieties , clear, snow, rose ect ) is safe to use in tanks I know for a fact. I had some in Bronson's old tank. You should make absolutely sure of what crystal you have before adding it t the tank as some such as selenite, are Friable ( they dissolve).

Thanks guys :good: I ask as I have a huge gemstone collection from my younger days and would like to add some, so I know all the names just need to find out how hard they are etc (great point Honeythorn :good: )

its important to identify which types of rocks you have. if you can get some photos up that would be great and I, and others, may offer some help to ID if you are uncertain. Any sort of jasper, agate, quartz, opal, garnet etc would be fine. just keep in mind that some minerals are harder than the glass in the tank and might scratch it if your not careful when moving them around or cleaning.
ive got all sorts of "rocks" in my tanks. im a bit of a geology nerd myself :)
cheers
