Garden Worm For Rainbow Cichlids?

i got some Rainbow Cichlids Yesterday and the guy i got them from said ya can feed them on garden worms - pick them out the garden, give them a clean, dunk em in.......anyone else done that?

i know ya can buy worms from pet stores for fish but can you really use garden worms for free?

(i have done a search on here and google but can't get a straight answer lol)

Yes i normally cut them up into 1 cm pieces or the fish sometimes struggle ,its a bit messy but the fish love them.I usually feed them once a week as a treat.

Blimey that reminds me of the time I had some tadpoles in a bucket for the
kids to watch grow. The lady that gave them to me told me to feed them on garden worms. I spent about an hour digging to find some , took them indoors, got the knife ....and just couldnt do it! So I thought ok, i'll just throw them in, threw them in and then couldn't stand the thought of them drowning, so I took them back out into the garden and fed the tadpoles on catfood! :rofl:

Incidentially you can buy dried earthworm pellets on Ebay - much less messy and the fish love them!

Yes I feed my axolotl earthworms every day in spring/summer. Get them from my orgnic compost bin though. Cichlids like them too.
