Even if you prefer to talk in gallons, whether it be UK or US, I think the only sensible solution is to know how many LITRES your tank(s) are so as there can be no mistakes with things like meds.

There is no reason not to know really - work it out just the once and note it down. If you pin it inside the door of the stand of on the back or somewhere then even those with poor memories or MTS will have no problems. After all, you need to be stood by your tank to tip the meds in..............or do you lob them??

The converter program that Cheese Specialist posted earlier in this thread is a great piece of kit - thanks Cheese, I never did know where it came from.

Why can't they give a graduated measuring cup or spoon with the instructions for 1 litre, 1 us gal AND 1 UK gallon. Then it would be easy for everyone - no matter what size of tank or measurements you prefer.

I agree with Red. Ever since I started my first tank, Ive cursed the people that are responsible for Stress coat, easy balance, and fish medicines, for not suppling proper measuring equipment with it. We all have different sizes of tanks that sometimes only hold liters and some hold gallons.

So tanks can only hold one unit of measurement?

I'm never going to stop thinking in gallons. I know 400 liters is a lot and 180 is a few and 40 is small, thats about it. I try to give stuff in liters if I'm explaining to someone who's outside of the US, but usually I forget. If someone gives a measurement in liters I figure it out myself using a conversion table, and then I forget immediately after that how much volume that many liters is and I have to look it up again the next time they ask.
