Hi again... i have decided that i shall leave the red tail black shark out of the equation for the moment, it is just to much of a risk... However as one does i am still planning on which fish to get before i make a mistake!!!!!! Has anyone here had any galaxy rasbora's??? http://www.tropicalfish4u.co.uk/acatalog/c...in_Rasbora.html. Tropical Fish for U sell them... Are they as beautiful as they look and the price suggests??? Would love to know how hardy this fish is and generally what it is like. One sub question- has anyone used tropical fish for U??? Are the fish in good health, any experiences would love to be known.

Thanks everyone for being so informative, Ollie

Tropical fish4u are one of the sponsers of this forum.
As for experience i have had 2 purchases from them and i would hghly reccomend them, both times the fish arrived healthy and they settled in no time, i would trust them and definatly use them again

Hope i helped :D

Yeah, they really are pretty. Never seen a fish like it. Anyone know anything about the actual fish though???

Not had them personally, but from what I hear, they were first discovered last September and hit the UK shop in October (if I remember rightly), we were the first place in the world to get them. Being so new there is very little info on them. Also remember that they are ALL wild caught. That practical fishkeeping article Josiah linked to has the best source of info on them.

I saw these for the first time last week when my LFS stocked a hundred of them. Their size really surprised me more than the coloration, though they weren't kept under good lighting. Really expensive though.

They are only 2cm , meaning they could be a quick meal for any other fish larger...... keep that in mind when choosing tank mates

Theyare dropping in price now, I have seen them at £3 each, mine cost about £4 each.

there are some tank bred ones - although very small as I know a couple of people that have spawned them already, just hoping mine do :)

Hi Ollie
I have Galaxy Rasboras .They were the second lot of fish to go in my new tank, THey are really small and are a stunning fish.Mine seem very hardy with no problems at all.If i can recall i think they were 5 for £10 but cant rember exactly. I would say go for it and get some they really are stunning

Thanks guys... Two more questions. I read that they could be sucked up by the filter... Is this true because of their size??? Secondly Tropical Fish for U are charging £5 for one. Is this a fair price???

Ollie

Hi Ollie

I have an ehiem filter on my tank which is very powerfull and all mine are fine. They have not been sucked up yet . I personally think that £5 each is alot to pay. I got mine from my local Maidenhead Aquatics store. The only thing i would say about them is that they are so small you cant really see them unless you are very close to the tank.

they are £4.68 each, its because they are a new species and they cost us a lot, im sure they will come down in price in a few months.

there is a new microrasbora that has been discovered recently that we are going to be getting soon hopefully
