I`ve been reading up on Galaxies and the article said that these fish are now endangered in their natural habitat through over collection

I could not find a date for the article and was wondering if the fish offered for sale are now captive bred or still collected from the wild ?

I was in the same position as you but all the articles related back to 2007 and from what I remember there are other wild sources plus they have been tank bred also. I got my 6 for just under a tenner. Lovely litle fish too.

They are still under threat in their local habitat and Burma has banned the export of these fish. Breeding does not seem to be problematic so it is only a matter of time before captive bred stocks reach a good level. They are already being farmed out in Asia (the majority of our aquarium fish come from these farms).

I believe either azgardens.com or liveaquaria advertises their stock as 100% captive bred.
