is white/clear fungus looking stuff commen on new driftwood? is it bad for fish?

Just scrub the bogwood in salty water. Rinse well. Let dry out for aday.

ive googled it and the answers i got said it was harmless and should disapear in 2/3weeks
ive also read some fish enjoy eating it

Its does disappear. I just scrubbed it off as it looks awful.
