The stocking in my signature is up to date. In addition to that however, in the next week I plan to give the juveniles to my local LFS, along with one of the male mollys. We've giving away one of the males because this one in particular is aggressive to all other fish at feeding, and constantly harasses the other male, who has never been aggressive to any of the other fish. This male will also chase away other fish if he sees something interesting (e.g. if I put something down near the tank), basically - extremely terratorial. The aggressive molly is bright orange and has a larger fin than the other, which is a dalmation, however the orange molly's fin isn't as big as a sailfin's.

My tank was a fish-in cycling, so I want to stock slowly as I've heard thats best. I added 3 corys last week (I know they're better in 6, my intention is to have 6 in total by the end of this week) however one of the corys died. My LFS is going to refund me so long as my water is ok, so when I go to my LFS to give them my juvies and molly later this week, I should be bringing back with me 4 corys - 2 albino, 2 bronze (as I currently have 1 bronze, 1 albino).

Basically, I want to know what my stocking options are? Just to clarify, after the changes above, I will have - 3 female platys (2 red wag tails and one with the orange face, white middle and black tail-end), one male molly and 6 corys (as well as some fry which I know are hiding somewhere)

I'd say that you're actually at about maximum stocking with 3 platys, 1 molly and 6 corys. I personally wouldn't add any more.

I wouldn't advise neon tetras for a 60L they need a lot of swimming space despite their small size, they are very active. I would agree that the molly isn't suitable for a 60L too, is there any way of returning the lone molly?

Yeah, my LFS said they'll have no trouble taking the other molly from us for nothing (which we've only had since September) so I suppose asking about the other molly won't be too much of an issue. Is my tank really too small? My LFS said they'll only grow to 6cm (and they look completely different to the sailfins they had there) and 6cm is roughly what they are now.

yeh proberly right also i forgot they are sensitive to newly cycled tanks :(

Balloon Mollies maybe? Normal Mollies can reach a fair old size!

Nope not balloon mollies, normal molly-ish appearance. They were labelled at my LFS as "small molly" that only grow to 6cm, they had other mollys there which grew to 12cm and some balloon ones too. The ones we have look nothing like balloon ones and nowhere near as large in proportion as the sailfins.

IF they stay at 6cm then you would be fine... :good:

So I could have one molly, 3 female platys and 6 cory catfish with no issues?

No room for one more? :hyper:

Going to measure one of them though I think to make sure. As no one else here seems to have heard of 6cm max mollies I'm not entirely trustful now of my LFS

Lol... That is what made me mention them.

I have found some references online to small mollies which grow between 6-10cm. Turned the lights out now so will measure tomorrow but I suspect unless my LFS sell a brand new breed of molly, they may very well grow larger.

So, if we end up having to give away the mollies... so are left with just catfish and platys, my boyfriend wants to know whether puffer fish would be suitable instead? Figure 8 ones.
