what fish would idealy live in a low ph? i need to know as my substrate has sucked my ph down below 6 and i`m hoping its going to level out somewehere around so so when i add 30ppm co2 it will probably end up at roughly 5

its either that or i find some sort of buffer but that could lead to a whole hoast of trouble as it would more than likely mean ph fluctuations wich could be worse for the fish

discus fish would thrive in that ph :) thers quite a few clown loach can survive
look on tropicalfish4u.co.uk to find out what ph fish need

i wasn`t 100% sure about the angels wich would be my first choice i think

What about any smaller shoaling fish? i know some rasboras live in very acidic water.

Many of the rarer anabantoids would also thrive in that pH. Infact, some are found in water with a pH as low as 4.5! You might be able to find some rasboras as well, especially if they inhabit the same area as the anabantoids. Chocolate gouramis, others would like your pH. You might get some of these fancies to breed.

llj :)

Just been having a nice discussion with MR monks, and Looks like it may not be an option i may well have to buffer my watter up, unless i do alot more research into using plants to filter my tank, but then i feel i won`t get that ammano esqe feel

surley other people have used the ADA soil and Co2 and consequently the same problem?!? what do they all do?

I`m trying to find someone who lives in a soft water area. every one else ends up with a ph of 6.4 or such

ours isn't that soft though is it?? 7.4's about average i thought :S :/

our kh at 4 degrees is on the low end of the spectrum...
so with the 1 point ph drop that the AS has givem plus another 1 point ph drop with 30pm co2 we end up with a ph of roughly 5.4,
And as the beneficial bacteria start to die off under 6 then we have a problem
