Hello everyone, not sure if anyone recalls I made a post awhile back about my fry not growing. They were 6 months old or so and still very very tiny. I just wanted to post an update video.. however they are still small LOL. Please let me know what you think i need to do now. I feed them crushed brimeshrimp, bloodworms, and flakes twice a day a good amount. Once a week water change.

are they being kept in a breeding trap??? if so how many are there??? because a breeding trap are ok for a few weeks but they do need more space to grow.

They seem to be in their own tank, going by the second video, they seem to have a heater etc in there. They are absolutely tiny for 6 month old fry though, my 2 week old fry look bigger, I have a sword tail fry which is 2 month old and is huge compared to yours. I feed mine 2/3 times a day a mixture of flake, granular food and the odd bloodworm but they only get that on rare occassions.

yes they are in a 10gal aquarium, i have a breeder trap in there for the newborns.

Are you feeding Baby Brine Shrimp? Or just Brine Shrimp? You need BBS. BS have almost no nutritional value. How long were they in a trap? They dont look that small. What are they, a half a inch? If they are 6 months old, they should be over a inch.

they are normal brime shrimp i am feeding the flakes.

They do look small but they are definitely making progress.

Kribensis, at 6 months old they should look close to being adults. I have 6 month old wild type swords that are well over 2 inches long and fully fleshed out. They looked so mature that I was sure they were all females until just last week when one started developing a gonopodium and a sword. There is something very wrong here for the fry to be so small.

Not very helpful so here we go.
You are feeding flake every day but I would ask that you make sure any flake you use is fairly fresh. Flake food can quickly lose its nutritional value once the container is opened. If you have had the food over 6 months, it is time to get some fresh fish food. As krib said, brine shrimp are almost empty filler compared to BBS. I only use brine shrimp or worms frozen because I don't consider the freeze dried products as very nutritious. I am also keeping a daphnia culture going to have some live food for small and even larger fish but they are only enough for treats. My dry food is mostly small pellets that require refrigeration because they are that high in fish meal that they would spoil if left out.
For growout situations, I look to very large containers for my fry. My swords spent the summer in an outdoor 150 gallon tub enjoying sunshine, fresh air and lots of space. They grew well but are a bit shy now because they didn't see people every day through the glass. Nobody can always afford the space they had but a way to compensate is lots of large water changes. Large is maybe 50% and lots is 2 or 3 times a week in my book. It may be too late for yours to ever reach normal size but it is not too late to give them a chance to grow up healthy.

Thats even worse then that they are so small at that age. I wonder if they haven't been getting enough nutrition and its stumped their growth.
