They ate their first baby brine shrimp yesterday, and have just accepted a 5th feed see their orange bellies! Now they're looking strong I thought it was time for some photos. These things are Darn small!

I recon I have around 25 fry. I left the parent fish in the tank for a while to reduce thenumber of eggs as this was more of a "tester" of raising fry. I dont have the grow out space for more than 20 or so.

Close up of one of the little-uns. See his bubble like swim bladder and orange belly full of baby brine shrimp.

Shall hopefully raise these and will add images as I go.

congrats on the fy and good luck with the raising of them :)

Thanks both. It was a hard slog trying to get the close up pic.

Tried the camera on continuous focus, but then the fish got too far away and I had to switch the "Macro" off, and then they come back close again but make such jolty movements that you can never get a sharp image. Ended up using manual focus and trying to "guess" where the fish was going to be, then taking the photo when it was there.

...an evening well spent me thinks (left the washing in the machine and STILL havent cleaned out the kitchen cupboards!)

How many did u have in breeding tank?? ratio of females and males
Thanks

Hi Tarps. 2 males to 3 females. 5 fish in total in a fairly small plastic tank (12 litres ish). 2 plants. This way the girlies get chased for a while and then get a chance to rest while the boys focus on another girl. It always seems the fellas like to chase the same girl. Doesnt matter which girl - if one male likes her then the other is there in a shot!
