My first attempt at taking an aquariam photograph and uploading via photobucket of the surprise Swordtail brood that arrived today.

Thanks to CrazyAirborne for the tutorial.

Aw cheers mate, they're Swordtails: green male/pineapple female cross.

BTW I used to keep/breed Mbuna back in the 80s, good times !

certainly got yourself a fair few fry there .. You planning on keeping them or?

Should get them again, love mbuna my favorite fish by far.

Not too sure, they will be going into an 18" growing on tank, see how many survive then take it from there.

Would love to keep Mbuna again sometime but got my heart set on a planted Guppy community/coloney set up, when I can find some strong stock. The Swords are a kind of stop gap for now.

My favorite Mbuna are P.Lombardi as I knew them, though I expect they've been renamed now. The males would do the most rediculous camp dance to and fro the length of the tank to attract the females, cracked me up everytime.

It looks like less than 20 fry so you missed a few or had a small drop. Swordtail fry from a mature female usually run to 50 or a few more. Maybe this was the first drop for your female, which would explain how you missed her carrying them.
