Hi there

I have 35 fry in 2 breeding traps, they're growing fairly quickly, born nearly 2 weeks ago,now i was wanting to put them into the 30l tank but has this still hasn't finished its fishless cycle i can't do this just yet!!

Now will the fry be ok floating in these traps,i've read that these may stunt their grow is this correct?

If is one of those floating traps where water from the big tank circulates through the trap, the impact will be less, but at 2 weeks old, they should be moved to something bigger....

Syphon some water from the parent tank into a bucket & float them in this with an airstone in.... then change 20% water in the bucket every day.....

The growth rate is restricted by the fish urine concentration in the water, so by doing daily water changes.... you dilute the water as if they are in a bigger tank.... then you'll have to speed up your cycling as your fry will have to be moved into the tank soon.....

yes it will....but 1st wait so they cqan grow a bit so that you can put them in the aquarium with the big ones';)

Thanks Ludwig,
Unfortunately i had 3 fry die in the trap,so i have removed them from the main tank,my 30l was nearing a possible end to the fishless cycle, but has these fry have died i decided to move them over to the 30l until they hopefully grow bigger.i emptied the 30l,gave it a good clean, then used water from the main tank to fill it up,all fry now in.There is 2 that look a bit iffy, hopefully they will pull through!
At least i can do a 10% w/c everyday :good:
