I had my two balloon mollies give around 50-70 fry last month. However now only 15 remain. I noticed before they perish, the fry stay at the bottom of the tank and are unable to swim though they have their fins moving.

I do a 50-70% water change every 2 days. Also from where i come from the only food available to feed them is crushed fish food or live worms which i havent tried (cos they seem bigger than the fry!) So their diet has only been crushed dry fish food for the last month

What else can I do to ensure the survival of the remaining fry? Would really appreciate your feedback because it kinda stinks having to take so much trouble for a month only to lose the fry one at a time :(

Can't help with cause of daeth but I feed my fry on special Fry Food bought on Ebay from a Powerseller -cheaper than crushing adult fish food yourself and has high protein and growht boosters. My mollie fry love it and have doubled in size. I can try and identify the actual seller and email later if you are interested.

Baby Mollies produce pheramones (I think that's the right spelling). Anyway, the strongest couple of fry produce this to kill off the other fry to give the bigger guys a better chance of survival in the wild.

Try doing smaller, daily changes ie 40% to rid the water of this substance. Two days may be enough time for the pheramones to build up?

Worth a go. :good:
