Frozen Tubifex Worms

Hi All

On the weekend I bought a pack of ALF (brand name) frozen tubifex worms.
Thinking about it afterwards, are they safe to use?
I have read a lot about tubifex worms living in contaminated water. I don't want to introduce something nasty to my tank. But on the other hand, I doubt a named brand would sell something that is not fit for fish?

Any comments?

Yes they will be fine - better to feed frozen as live may contain parasites frozen ones wont.

That is what I am afraid of, that it might contain something nasty.

i use the freeze dried ones. they last forever, they are in little 1cm cubes, i put one in and it was far too much for my 135l tank. i now cut each little square in half, still plenty. my tetras and barbs go absolutely bezerk for them.

My reed fish are only eating frozen food at the moment.
They won't touch freeze dried.
