Frozen or Freeze-Dried?

While I greatly prefer live worms to any other form, I have been using frozen bloodworms lately, and find that many of my fish don't seem to mind the difference. But, some of my fish will barely touch them; they prefer freeze dried instead.

I always use lots of the freeze dried tubifex worms in addition to the live. I have a lot of fish to feed and have to stretch the food budget. They are the complete worm, just compressed and dried. If you look at the nutrition facts on the can, you will see that the protien content is very high. It seems to me that the tissue bursts with the frozen worms and much of the nutritious blood runs out. Also, there is something about the color of the frozen bloodworms that seems unnatural.

I don't know how they taste to the fish, but perhaps they are more concentrated in taste, sort of like comparing grapes to raisins or plums to prunes.

I know mine eat the frozen food quicker, but I think thats just because it clumps together more than dried. An advantage of dried is that it floats for quite a while so picky eaters such as Discus can take their time with it.
