Frozen Food All The Time?

Sorry to hear about your ram . I find they can be quite sensitive and prone to bullying when kept at lower temperatures, how high is yours?

Just out of interest, do you feed the frozen block intact or do you let it defrost? I've tried both dropping it in frozen and defrosting it and tipping in the bloodworms. The best option for my fish seems to be tipping in some defrosted for the top feeders and letting the rest fall to the bottom for my cory's etc.

I just wondered what everyone else did

My tank is at 26, I think it's a bully anyway as it has been picking on my female guppy =\ might need to out or unfortunately.
And I only tend to give it to them defrosted as it tends to settle after a while for the corys to grab anyway.

Thanks for the info - that makes complete sense. I have the Omega One flakes which have real fish in them. I don't yet have any pellets however only have 6 fish in the tank as I'm just getting started. Will have to do a quick google search on the novo tabs.

I love reading what people are feeding and when, what brands work well for people, etc. Who here feeds live bloodworms/black worms/brine shrimp and how do you know how much to give?

Unfortunately 26 is too low for rams really, they are good tank companions for discus and other warmth loving fish, but ideally they would be up at 30-32*, which the other fish wouldn't cope with long term.

At lower temperatures, their digestive enzymes and others don't function properly, being coldblooded they rely on your heater to be set at the right temp for all their bodily systems to work properly. A rehome or dedicated tank would be best .

I hold the 5 blocks in my hand and stick it in the water and crunch them together till they melt in my hand.

i put mine in an eggcup with a bit of tank water and wait for them to defrost. particuarly with bloodworm, i need to give every fish a chance to get some, not just the biggest ones who swim to the top and hack at the block
