I just tried Kai on frozen bloodworm (as suggested on here) and he wolfed it down, no problem and is like a new fish, I can't believe it! Sitting near the front and not hiding when I go up to him, also swimming about loads!

The only thing is, I can't give him that 3 times a day can I? Or even once a day? He HATES betta pellets. What would be a good diet (daily basis) for him? I am thinking he adores his frozen bloodworm!!!

But can they have it every single day? I feed my other 2 bettas 3 pellets 3 times a day, so I need to know a good feeding regime for Kai if poss please

you can't really feed bloodworm all the time as it's very high in protein, which is fine say, once or maybe twice a week but it's too rich to be a staple food. Which pellets do you feed Kai?

Any pictures of the pretty boy? :D

Its not a good idea to use it every day, most say once a week is enough. Have you tried him with pellets since? There was a thread on here about feeding bloodworm every day but i can't seem to find it at the mo. I'll keep looking

What else is there he can have everyday that's meaty, but not frozen bloodworm?

Forgot to say, he can't catch pellets, he will be underneath them and every time he goes to eat it he misses

is he blind or are they too big for his mouth? Daft question but it would make a difference

Not too big as the others get them straight away
Could he be blind? He has eyelids - do they all have eyelids?

Dougie has eyelids and seems to see's fine. Does he have cloudy eyes and does he flair at a mirror. Mybe he has bad sight in just one eye which thows out his judgement of distance

Ok not sure how to add links so i hope this works, this is the other thread about Betta not eating though it was flakes not pellets. Perhaps flakes would be better as they have a larger surface area he might catch them easier - hope it helps some

Yeah I figured that about the bloodworm, I might call the LFS again - I rung earlier and they said I could return him and swap him for another, that's quite heartbreaking as I really love him already but if I can't look after him properly, what's the alternative?

Aww does he? Is Dougie the one who has an exposed beard too?
I haven't showed him a mirror yet, he's been so unsettled I didn't want to add fuel to the fire
So if he can't judge the pellets, what should I try? I am happy to give bloodworm once a week of course - I tried him on flakes, he showed half an interest only.

like devon said does he flare at a mirror and does he have cloudy eyes? Maybe you could try holding the pellets with a sterile pair of tweezers as it won't move around then and might be easier for him to catch. Which pellets are they?

OMG!!! YES DOES HE FLARE!!! He's beaaauuutiful!!! He went mental, and sooo pretty - I didn't believe he was a half moon until just now lol

his eyes don't seem that cloudy, but his bottom lip sticks out more than Jai's

Edited to say they are HIkari betta pellets, so very tiny
