I have recently brought 2 frontosa's. Both over 8 inches whats best to feed them? Ive only got tropical fish flakes at the moment.

Why buy fish if you do not know what to feed them! Always do research on what they need before making a purchase!

To answer your question you can't feed floating food to them. Here are some suitable food to feed them.
Bloodworm, prawn, spirileena, hikari pellets, brine, and krill.

Please do your research before buying your fish!!

I brought them because you just dont see frontosa's this big and cheap very often. 50 quid for both of them is a bargin considering there size and I know there only 5 years old. Thats why I decided to do the research later. They have been taking the flake food but I do need to feed them there proper diet thats why im asking for help on what to feed them. Im gonna look at those you suggested. Thanks for your reply.

btw its only there food requirements i didnt know. I knew they like a ph of about 8 and hard water like there home in lake tanganyika.

Your welcome. I realize that you can't pass up a great offer but sometimes its not a good idea. For example, somebody on the forums bough some Malawi's. They were juvenile so they didn't hurt each other. Now they are fighting each other to the death because they weren't put in the tank that represents their environment.

I dont know much about malawi's other than they get very agressive towards each other. My frontosa do seem very happy. I probably havnt got them in the absolute correct enviroment but they do seem happy. my ph is 8 and the tap water is hard here. Im keeping them with 3 severums and 2 nearly fully grown banded leporinus and a big common pleco. If space does become an issue I will have to give something back to the lfs. What substrate and deco do frontosas and other tanganyika ciclids like?
