I have a percula clown. I'm brand new to SW.. Ive had this 30gal (US) for about 9 months now and my little clown has got to be lonely! Id like to get one other fish until I can get a bigger tank but I'm unsure as to the best suited marine fish friend for him. Should I get another clown or will that cause problems? He seems to be pretty attached to a certain cave and I thought that it might become an issue of territory. And if not another clown, what suggestions do you have?

Thanks!

Taylor

There might be and might not be problems adding another clown. It really depends on what type of clown you have. If you choose too you have some options.

A) make sure to buy a clown that is SMALLER than the one in your tank. That way there are not going to be gender issues with the possibility of you buying a female and already having one. IF he is smaller odds are he will submit faster and a bit more peacibly than one that was already on their way to being female.

B) you could re-arrange the rock work just prior to adding the fish so that territory doesnt come into play.

C) get a different fish. :)

sorry im tired, been a long long weekend. LOL, i just remembered its tuesday. Anyways, possibe non-clown tanke mates:
-firefish (purple or red are common ones)
- a small wrasse (i.e. sixline wrasse like steels)
- a small goby
- an orchid dottyback
- a pajama or bangaii cardnal fish

just thoughts
