So recently had to shut down my reef aquarium due to lack of time and funds to keep it up but now I'm interested in turning it into a Tanganyika cichlid tank.. The tank is a eareef1200s which is sumped. I've never used a sump on a fw tank before so looking for some advice. What's the best filter media to use? Can I still use media reactors for things like phosphate/nitrate removers? Filter socks? Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Sumps can hold a huge amount of filter media, so it's often not a big issue. I use alfagrog in mine.

Reactors are often less useful, although they can often be repurposed as fluidised sand beds. In a rift tank you may actually have a use for reactors though.
