Freshwater Predator Tank

Well some of you may know I wanted a saltwater tank but being only 15 and without a job, it would be hard to rack up all the money for the tank and extras needed to keep the fish alive. So I have decided to persue a freshwater predator tank. Can anyone give me some cool ideas for some predators that are unique? Any advice is helpfull.

You'd be better off starting a post in the Predator section but from what I've read Polypterus are a good starter. Although there are many more species such as Ctenopoma, Channa(Snakeheads) and Ropefish which can be very interesting.

Depends on what size tank your after really AmazonFTW had some good suggestions but a lot need big big tanks. Dwarf Snakeheads would be a good start for me Channa Gachua brilliant small snakehead

Yeah you're probably right, I was generalising as I've never actually kept predators myself. I have read a fair bit but don't want to give inaccurate information which may cause something bad to happen.
