I'm looking to get a power head for a new 55G cichlid tank I'm going to set up this weekend.
I'm going to run a fluval q2 with a large air stone under the main scape of rocks but would like a power head the other side of the tank just to make it more interesting and life like for my fish.
Open to any price of head but would generally just like a solid well built pump that will last, but on a budget if that makes sense?
I don't have a max I can spend, but keep in mind I'm not after the gold plated diamond encrusted ££££'s set up :)

The hydor koralia are a good solid make, I use a koralia 900 in my 160l so probably a 1600 or higher model would be OK for your tank I think

+1 for Hydor koralia. I personally wouldnt use anything but

Use a Hydor Koralia in my 200l, and its perfect, just the right amount of flow, and silent.

I've just bought the one you've linked above it is almost silent and very good flow. well worth it

I use two nano 1600 on my 240l, one on each end, and that is pretty decent flow wise. I have species that don't like super strong flow. What fish do you have? I tried the 2800 in my tank first and it blew all of my plants right out of the substrate when I turned it on.

It's going to be a cichlid tank so no plants really, it will be aimed towards the top of the tank so any fish that wish to stay out of its path can do :)

The cheaper option is the all pond solutions type heads. You do get what you pay for and they're not as quiet and they seem to be a lot bigger than the koralias. Mine still seems to be working fine a year or so on though. Depends how tight the budget is.

Picked the hydor up I linked for a bargain of £34 from that place.
I price matched it to 39.99 I found, had a 10% off voucher and £1.45 in loyalty points!
Laughing :D
