Anyone know where to get a freshwater clam from in the manchester area please tell me!

They are filter feeders and reduce nitrates in tanks! I love the living solution rather than the chemical one and I think a few of these would go a long way to improving water quality as I am very pedantic about it!

I have four of these in my tank (20 US gallon), and honestly, in terms of reducing nitrates, I think you will be sorely disappointed if you manage to find them (I have no idea about places in the UK). They probably do help reduce nitrates, but they do not do it in any significant way as to ward of the need for water changes. I bought mine becuase of the interest factor, not the filter-feeding factor. I am glad, becauseas I said, I would have been terribly disappointed. Also, there is risk involved in keeping freshwater clams. If they happen to spawn, the offspring are parasitic to most fish, and will often kill them. Granted, I have had no trouble yet, but I wanted to point out the potential risk. Good luck finding some of these guys (if you are still interested)!
