My lfs has 2 and I saw them the other day. I never knew there was such a thing as a freshwater barracuda.
They were about 4" and had razor sharp teeth. They were very aggro as I found out when I put my finger in the tank they charged at it. (might be because they thought I was feeding it tho. Since I don't know anything about them, I don't know their mannerisms)
Anyone have any info on them or a scientific name?
I'm not getting one but am curious.

). I believe they are sometimes known as Dog characins, scientific name Acestrorhynchus falcirostris. Mine was very timid and was spooked everytime anyone went near the tank but boy did it eat guppies, was what i call a true piscavor as it would catch the fish side on and then turn the fish in its mouth to swallow it head first. If i ever see these fish again and have a spare tank i will definately be getting some (the mrs isnt as screamish anymore
